The research field "Green & Digital Strategies" is positioned at the intersection of digitization and greening. We analyze, develop and evaluate strategies that help companies, organizations, sectors and regions to become digitally and environmentally sustainable. Thus, we support the transition to a resource-efficient and future-oriented economy.

Digital progress is producing new and groundbreaking innovations such as blockchain technology, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things or cloud computing. However, these application areas also consume a lot of energy: Data centers today need vast amounts of conventionally generated electricity that is not (yet) green. The CO2 savings potential through digitization is around five times higher than the resulting emissions, and more than half of EU citizens see digitization as an opportunity to prevent climate change.
